This subject focuses on the art of special effects and explores the creative talents responsible for imaginative visual realisation. The subject will investigate the diverse history, theory and practice of special effects that demonstrate success and failure, realistic/unrealistic aesthetics, problem-solving skills, creative potential and technical innovation in informational, artistic, educational and entertainment contexts.

Students are advised to undertake VFX106 3D Animation if they are not capable of creating animated 3D imagery and VFX205 Digital Compositing if they are unable to create photorealistic video composites.
