Criteria

The prize is awarded to a student on the basis of demonstrated merit in a professional field education subject and in particular, achieving a social action outcome of benefit to a disadvantaged individual, group or community. Students prepare their application in consultation with their University Liaison Academic, Agency Supervisor and Subject Co-ordinator. The application should demonstrate:-merit in the application of academic learning to practice;social action and social justice outcomes; benefit to disadvantaged individual, group or community; and application of principles of social justice, equity, empowerment and self-determination.The application will comprise the student's documentation of their practice achievements and supporting evidence of their method and its outcomes, such as: references from their CSU Academic Liaison person and/or Agency Supervisor commenting on the student's professional orientation, client group advocacy and application of academic learning to practice;evidence of outputs from diverse media such as written project documentation, photographs, video, audio, media coverage, records of agendas or programs or training; and other evidence of outcomes can include additional referee reports, testimonials and before and after materials.Students must also nominate the social justice project to which they would like to donate $500.00 and the details of the auspicing body to which their donation can be made.

Successful completion of any of the undergraduate Human Service Course offerings of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Mitchell Foundation Prize for Reflective Writing

Criteria

Students in the relevant courses, after completing their final professional experience placements in schools or early childhood services, write a reflective essay or story to illustrate the teaching challenges and professional growth they have experienced during their placement, as they look forward to their future as a beginning teacher. The writing task is to be between 750 and 1500 words, modelled on the entries included in "Into the Whirly Wind: Stories of First-year-out Teaching".

Eligibility

Graduating students enrolled in a pre-service teacher education course in the School of Teacher Education.

There are a limited number of awards at each Study Centre (Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney) covering one award in each of the disciplines taught at those sites - Accounting, Business, and Information Technology. The specific criteria used to determine the top student in each discipline in each Study Centre are: 1. Cannot have previously received a CSU Study Centre Academic Merit Award; 2. Highest GPA (in current course) [ignoring previous courses and articulated pathways]; 3. Must have at least 5 results in their current course; 4. Must have subjects remaining in the course for which the scholarship can be employed; and 5. Must be studying in at least one subject in the 60 session.

Offered to students with demonstrated academic excellence and who contribute to the positive enhancement of the discipline of Food Science and/or Chemistry. Criteria

Students must display fellowship and leadership skills in their Animal Science community via their involvement in Animal Science-based student organisations and/or SAVS organisations that better their fellow peers and their university/school community. Students will complete an application form. A selection panel will review applications and make a determination of the successful applicant. Applications must be submitted by 15th March in the year in which the prize is to be awarded. Applications are based on the student's achievements to date in the preceding years (i.e. Year 2 prize is applied for and awarded when the student is in Year 3). For the purpose of calculation of student academic stage, number of credit points completed defines second year students as those who have completed more than 64 credit points to a maximum of 128 credit points, and are subsequently enrolled in their third year of the Animal Science degree at the time of application.

Students must have completed their 2nd year of the Bachelor of Animal Science [Integrated Honours] and must have been, during their first and/or second year of study, a member of an Animal Science based student organisation and/or School of Animal and Veterinary Science organisation including: - Animal Science Association - as a committee member or year representative; and/or - Member on the SAVS Student Staff Liaison committee as a student representative for Animal Science students; and/or - Student must also show a genuine interest for Animal Science and be dedicated to fulfilling a career in Animal Science; and/or - Member of the ICMJ Team; and/or - Committee member of the approaching Agriculture fair; and/or - Participant in the National Merino Challenge; and/or - CSU Wildlife Association - as a committee member; and/or - student representative for the SAVS School Board.
