This subject develops and consolidates students' understanding of English content knowledge in language, literature and literacy to enable Stage 2 and Stage 3 students to appreciate the value of the English language for communication, knowledge and enjoyment. Students revise and build on their understandings of current research in language, literature and literacy, including the explicit teaching of speaking, listening, reading, writing, viewing and representing. Students will examine a range of theoretical perspectives and models for teaching English in order to meet the specific needs of diverse learners. Learning experiences will promote students' abilities to critically analyse diverse texts, including multimodal texts, and a wide range of teaching and learning resources. Students will design sequential learning experiences aligned with the NSW K-10 English syllabus, including assessment strategies, for Stage 2 and Stage 3 students.
