This subject develops students' knowledge and skills for working with children, young people and their carers in adverse life circumstances. Adversity can have a deleterious impact upon wellbeing in terms of education, health, safety and justice. The subject enables students to integrate knowledge of psycho-emotional and social development of children within family and other care arrangements, with social work practice skills that enhance effective professional engagement and intervention.
