The Preparing for Criminal Justice Practice subject focuses upon identification and development of student academic and professional skills for successful degree completion and future employment. Students will review their experience in the first session, identify and articulate skills strengths and gaps and strategies for academic success. The subject links these strategies and skills development to career aspirations, with creation of key documents and a portfolio of student work. Skills development will include a focus upon research, analysis, communication, conflict management, mediation, and cultural competency. Students will be able to identify, articulate and demonstrate an understanding of the nexus between academic and professional skills, and employer expectations.
