A virtual international symposium hosted by Charles Sturt University on 13–14 October 2026, bringing together researchers, regulators, policy leaders and industry to explore the role of RNAi-based biopesticides in sustainable agriculture and the future of regulatory harmonisation across OECD countries.
RNAi-based biopesticides represent an important innovation frontier in sustainable agriculture, offering highly targeted approaches for managing pests and diseases. When integrated within broader pest and disease management systems, they have the potential to complement existing tools and reduce reliance on conventional chemical pesticides, contributing to more resilient and adaptive crop protection strategies. As the science rapidly advances, regulatory systems globally are also evolving to keep pace with these emerging technologies.
Hosted by Charles Sturt University in partnership with CSIRO and The University of Queensland, this symposium provides a timely platform for international dialogue on the opportunities, challenges, and policy implications of RNAi-based crop protection - supporting informed pathways for innovation, regulation, and real-world agricultural impact.
