EPT331 Workplace Training (8)
Abstract
In this subject students will learn how to train and assess individuals or small groups in workplaces through demonstration and instruction. They will do this within the context of a particular organisation and its policy and regulatory frameworks. Students will explore, apply and critique a range of theories relating to workplace learning and analyse the place of training in business. A practicum of 50 hours is included in this subject. This subject will include content from key Units of Competency from the TAE40110 Training Package. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to identify and work with the range of stakeholders who have involvement in and responsibility for training in workplaces;
- be able to discuss the importance of, and advocate for the place of training in assisting business effectiveness;
- be able to deliver and assess training in a workplace context;
- be able to apply the principles of Recognition programs in workplaces;
- be able to discuss a range of workplace learning theories;
- be able to carry out a training needs analysis;
- be able to prepare training plans including those appropriate for work-based apprentices and trainees or other workers;
- be able to discuss the importance and usefulness of reflection on their practice in developing professional expertise; and
- be able to critically discuss a range of workplace learning theories and their usefulness in a variety of situations.

Work Place LearningThis subject contains a Compulsory Workplace Learning component of 6 days duration.
The 50 hours of workplace learning / practicum for this subject is made up of the following components:

Approximately 15 hours undertaking teaching and assessing activities in the workplace

Approximately 15 hours observing and investigating teaching and assessing activities in the workplace

Approximately 20 hours developing workplace training and assessment activities and related administration tasks
This subject contains a Compulsory Workplace Learning component of 6 days duration.
