EPT333 Assessment in Adult and Vocational Education (8)

Abstract

In this subject students will learn how to plan and conduct assessment in a Registered Training Organisation. Students will learn about, policy and regulatory frameworks, both government and organisational. Students will engage with theories relating to learning design, assessment and validation and will link these to their practice. A practicum of 50 hours is included in this subject. This subject will include content from key Units of Competency from the TAE40110 Training Package.

This subject is not available to students who have completed a TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. This subject is not available to students who have completed the subjects: EMC202 or EEE403 or EEE440, EEE220 or EEE303. This subject is not available to students who have been granted the VET03C or VET02C credit.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to design competency-based learning assessment activities and associated assessment tools to meet AQF requirements;
  • be able to customise Units of Competency within acceptable limits to the needs of individual learners and employers;

Work Place Learning

This subject contains a Compulsory Workplace Learning component of 6 days duration. The 50 hours of workplace learning / practicum for this subject is made up of the following components:
  • Approximately 30-40 hours undertaking development of assessment tasks including preparation for and evaluation of assessment sessions including discussions with others; observing and working with other teachers/trainers who are conducting assessment; online investigations; engaging in other tasks which contribute to professional development as an assessor; and
  • Approximately 10-20 hours undertaking validation of assessment tasks, including preparation for and evaluation of validation sessions including discussions with others; observing and working with other teachers/trainers on assessment validation tasks; online investigations; engaging in other assessment validation meetings, discussions or tasks.
