Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • Be able to demonstrate understanding of antecedents of crime and criminal behaviour.
  • Be able to demonstrate understanding of emerging trends in crime and the development of appropriate responses.
  • Be able to demonstrate understanding of the various stages of the criminal justice system.
  • Be able to demonstrate understanding of the use of the crime triangle and important crime prevention concepts such as motivation, opportunity and guardianship.
  • Be able to demonstrate understanding of the intelligence cycle and what each of the steps involves.
  • Be able to demonstrate understanding of the purpose of intelligence products and the role of intelligence in law enforcement
