Working with Us

At Charles Sturt University we are all about people; improving the lives of our students and the broader community and developing and supporting our staff to be productive and successful individuals.

Working with us will stimulate and challenge you.  The opportunities offered by a changing and innovative work environment make CSU a really exciting place to be. We are not saying it will be easy.  You will need to think smart and work hard.  But when surrounded by a great team of people you will be surprised by what you can achieve.  Working with creative and dynamic people, knowing you are contributing to improving the lives of others, combined with the benefits we offer will enhance your feeling of self fulfilment.

Salaries and Conditions of Employment

Salaries and conditions of employment are in accordance with the CSU Enterprise Agreement 2013-2016.

The University pays employer superannuation between 9.5% and 17% depending on the nature of the appointment.

Professional Development

The University offers a range of professional development opportunities.  We offer formally recognised programs, such as Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and the Graduate Certificate in University Leadership and Management, but believe professional development is so much more than structured learning -  attending conferences, participating in the academic special studies program, undertaking secondments or higher duties, participating in projects and mentoring others provide our staff with a rich professional development experience.

Our education support program provides valuable assistance to staff studying part-time to obtain recognised VET or higher education qualifications.

Our staff are able to discuss their performance, career aspirations and professional development with their supervisor as part of annual performance and development discussions.

Reward and Recognition

We like to let our staff know they are doing a great job. It may be a "thank you", a letter of appreciation, encouragement to take on a new challenge, or more formal recognition through the University's prestigious Annual Vice-Chancellor's Awards.

In appreciation of those long serving employees of the University, we formally recognise continuous contribution and commitment of 20 years or more.

Balancing Work and Personal Life

The University offers a range of flexible work arrangements to assist staff in better balancing their work and personal commitments.

Attractive leave provisions, including 20 days annual leave per year with the opportunity to purchase additional leave, 15 days sick/carers leave per year, parental leave (including maternity and adoption leave) of up to 26 weeks on full pay or 52 weeks on half pay (subject to a qualifying period) and defence force leave of up to 10 days per year, help our staff to achieve a balanced lifestyle.

One of the great benefits of working at Charles Sturt University is reduced commute times compared with the city, allowing our staff more time to do other things.

With our campuses and study centres located adjacent to large regional and metropolitan centres, our staff are able to access a variety of childcare options. Early childcare facilities are available on Albury-Wodonga,  Wagga Wagga and Bathurst campuses.

Financial Benefits

A variety of salary packaging and salary sacrifice options are available including professional memberships, self-education expenses, superannuation, novated motor vehicle leases and in-house childcare costs.

Staff have access to a variety of discounted goods and services through our corporate partners program.

Workplace Giving

Health and Wellbeing

The University recognises the value of promoting wellness and wellbeing within the workplace, and the added benefits to the individual and their families of taking a proactive approach to improve their health outcomes. Investing in our employees' health and wellbeing is also essential for ongoing success of the University.
