The Charles Sturt University Teaching Academy is delighted to invite abstracts for CSEdX 2026. The conference theme is ‘Teaching is Relational: Reconnecting Practice, People and Community’ and will be held on Tuesday 10 November 2026.

This theme reflects the importance of situating teaching as a relational practice grounded in connection, community and professional purpose.

  • Building Belonging and Connection
  • Presence, Partnership and Support
  • Learning Through Participation in Practice
  • Designing for Inclusion and Equity
  • Strengthening Educational Capability and Practice

Session types

CSEdX 2026 will feature two session types:

  • Inquiry Labs are short-format sessions (20 minutes) for sharing practice, exploring challenges and learning through dialogue. Presenters share an authentic learning and teaching challenge, opportunity or emerging practice and create a space for colleagues to think together about questions that matter and generate new possibilities.
  • Workshops are longer sessions (60 minutes) that provide participants with opportunities to actively learn, discuss, practise and apply ideas connected to one or more of the conference sub-themes. Workshops need to be interactive, provide practical value, and support participants to build confidence and capability.

Abstract submission

Abstracts are invited from Charles Sturt staff (individuals and teams) including educators, academic leaders, scholarship of learning and teaching researchers, academic developers, and professional staff and others who support learning, teaching and capability development.

All abstracts must align with at least one conference sub-theme.

Other program content

In addition, CSEdX 2026 will also bring us together for a keynote address and a celebration of the Charles Sturt University teaching community, a fitting close to a conference about reconnecting practice, people and community.

Developing Digital Literacy and Critical Thinking Skills in a Hybrid World 2023

Our CSEdX Conference was held from 14 to 16 November 2023.

The Charles Sturt EdX conference provides a forum for all Charles Sturt staff to engage in scholarly activity and share best practices that will positively impact our students' learning and teaching experience.

In 2023, the Teaching Academy led the development and engagement of the Charles Sturt EdX conference, ensuring key themes and workshops are determined by our staff and aligned with our strategic direction. As a result, this year’s program will have a new look and feel! We met over three half days to ensure that as many staff as possible can attend the conference.

HIDDEN Our 2024 theme

Developing Digital Literacy and Critical Thinking Skills in a Hybrid World

Our 2023 theme reflects the impact of generative artificial intelligence (AI) on higher education as it advances rapidly, forcing us to consider how we address its risks, impacts, and opportunities.  Generative AI promises to change our lives now and into the future.  We need to leverage and elevate our learning and teaching in our post-COVID hybrid teaching environment to lead online education.

Within this broader theme, our presentations will address the themes of ‘teaching students to identify and evaluate online resources as responsible digital citizens’ and ‘facilitating meaningful learning experiences in a hybrid environment’ and showcase practices related to ‘authentic assessment, a focus on pedagogy, innovative learning and teaching approaches, scaffolding critical thinking, and work-integrated learning’.
