CSEdX 2025: Critical AI Practices in Higher Education

CSEdX 2025 is a dynamic, full-day professional development event for academic and professional staff to explore the critical role of AI in higher education. As AI continues transforming how we learn, teach, and work, this event offers a timely opportunity to reflect, build capability, and plan strategically for an AI-integrated future.

To ensure everyone can participate and feel included, the event will be delivered fully online, with optional on-campus networking opportunities.

Key Features:

  • Workshops (online) - these will be application-focused; will cover Critical AI practices in everyday work - teaching, research, administration, professional services, governance
  • Keynote panel (campus based and online) – each will provide a different perspective on Critical AI practices in HE

Developing Digital Literacy and Critical Thinking Skills in a Hybrid World 2023

Our CSEdX Conference was held from 14 to 16 November 2023.

The Charles Sturt EdX conference provides a forum for all Charles Sturt staff to engage in scholarly activity and share best practices that will positively impact our students' learning and teaching experience.

In 2023, the Teaching Academy led the development and engagement of the Charles Sturt EdX conference, ensuring key themes and workshops are determined by our staff and aligned with our strategic direction. As a result, this year’s program will have a new look and feel! We met over three half days to ensure that as many staff as possible can attend the conference.

Developing Digital Literacy and Critical Thinking Skills in a Hybrid World

Our 2023 theme reflects the impact of generative artificial intelligence (AI) on higher education as it advances rapidly, forcing us to consider how we address its risks, impacts, and opportunities.  Generative AI promises to change our lives now and into the future.  We need to leverage and elevate our learning and teaching in our post-COVID hybrid teaching environment to lead online education.

Within this broader theme, our presentations will address the themes of ‘teaching students to identify and evaluate online resources as responsible digital citizens’ and ‘facilitating meaningful learning experiences in a hybrid environment’ and showcase practices related to ‘authentic assessment, a focus on pedagogy, innovative learning and teaching approaches, scaffolding critical thinking, and work-integrated learning’.
