Julian Grant

Biography

Professor Julian Grant is a registered nurse and Professor of Nursing working on Wiradjuri land at Charles Sturt University. She provides strategic and operational leadership to promote excellence in research across the health and wellbeing sector, with a focus on promoting research that addresses the place-based needs of rural, regional and remote communities.

Having worked as a child and family health nurse across rural, remote and metropolitan Australia for 18 years, her research focuses on addressing health inequities experienced by children and families as they relate to race, gender, geography, and child abuse or neglect. This research explores and critiques individual and systemic barriers within the nursing and interdisciplinary workforce tasked with supporting health and wellbeing. Since 2011, she has been CI on externally funded research to a total of $3,171,595.50 across Category 1, 2 and 3 funding sources.

Professor Grant was appointed by the Minister to serve on the NHMRC Health Research Impact Committee from 2021-2024 and is currently appointed on the NHMRC Research Committee. She is the Academic elected member of the Charles Sturt University Council.
