Commencing Students - Value: 15% tuition fee reduction from the second session of your course
The scholarship provides a 15% tuition fee reduction for new commencing international students, applied from the second session and continuing for the remaining duration of their course. See full eligibility details below.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be an international student commencing at Charles Sturt University in 2027
- Meet the entry requirements for your course
- Meet all visa requirements
- Enrol in an eligible on-campus course
You do not need to apply separately. Eligible students will be automatically considered. The scholarship is not available for continuing or transferring students.

Guidelines
Who cannot apply?
- International students commencing an online mode course
- International students commencing a course at Charles Sturt University’s international partners
- International exchange students
- International students with an Australia Awards or Research Training Program (RTP) scholarship
- Continuing students – only new students will be made a scholarship offer at the time of admission
When will I be notified that my application has been received?
Your offer letter will detail the scholarship.
Can I be awarded more than one scholarship?
Students awarded this scholarship will not be eligible for other Charles Sturt-funded tuition fee scholarships. For any queries, check with our friendly team at ask@csu.edu.au
How are applications assessed?
You will be considered for this scholarship as part of your course application. You do not need to submit a separate application.
When will my scholarship be applied?
Scholarships are subject to you maintaining satisfactory academic progress and continued enrolment in your course. If these conditions are not met, your scholarship may be suspended or terminated.
- The scholarship is applied from the second session of your course
- The scholarship amount will be deducted from your tuition fees at the start of each eligible session
- The scholarship does not apply to your first session
Can I defer my scholarship offer?
Yes. If you choose to defer your course to a future intake, your scholarship will also be deferred, provided the course is offered in an eligible future session.
Can my scholarship be suspended or terminated?
Yes. Your scholarship may be suspended or terminated if you do not meet the eligibility requirements.
Your scholarship will be terminated if:
- You are excluded from your course
- You withdraw or cancel your enrolment
- You do not maintain satisfactory academic progress over time
- You transfer to another university
Can I apply for an Approved Leave of Absence (ALA)?
Yes. An Approved Leave of Absence will not result in the termination of your scholarship. Please speak with your international student support officer for more information.

When will I be notified of my application outcome?
Your scholarship outcome will be included in your offer letter.
What will happen after I am granted the scholarship?
You will need to accept your offer to study at Charles Sturt University.
You may also need to meet Genuine Student (GS) requirements, including demonstrating financial capacity, and pay the required deposit to receive your electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE).
How many scholarships are on offer?
Charles Sturt University aims to award this scholarship to all eligible students.
Will I be considered a commencing student if I am transferring from another Charles Sturt course or applying with advanced standing?
Yes. You will be considered a commencing student and must meet the eligibility criteria for the scholarship. If you are unsure, please contact us at ask@csu.edu.au
Can I transfer my scholarship to another campus if I remain in the same Charles Sturt course?
Yes. You can transfer your scholarship to another campus if you remain enrolled in the same course and continue to meet the scholarship criteria.
When will I receive the scholarship benefit?
You will receive the scholarship from your second session of study.
The tuition fee reduction will be applied to your fees from that session onwards, provided you meet the ongoing eligibility requirements.
