Normal course duration
Full-time 1.0 years (2.0 sessions)
All students receive a standard entry credit level package of 32 subject points. The duration of the course in equivalent full time years is 0.5.
Admission criteria CSU Admission Policy
To be eligible for admission applicants must have completed the Higher School Certificate or equivalent.
TAFE may interview potential applicants to confirm admission.
Credit CSU Credit Policy
Victorian applicants
Upon admission students are awarded a standard entry credit level package of 32 points (initially represted as Forward Credit (FCR)) for the Certificate IV in Further Education).
This will be represented on academic transcripts as:
- XYZ04C 4 Unspecified Electives - 32 credit points
NSW Applicants
NSW TAFE units are packaged into CSU subjects therefore there is no credit transfer required upon enrolment.
Graduation requirement
To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.
Course structure
This course consists of a total of eight subjects (equivalent to 64 credit points).
These 64 points include:
4 CSU subjects (32 points)
- COM173 Introduction to Communication
- MGT173 Understanding Organisations and Management
- SCI173 Understanding Science
- EED173 Human Development
and the equivalent of 4 subjects (32 points) from,
the Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation (TAFE NSW Riverina Institute or TAFE NSW Western Institute or Wodonga TAFE VIC)
The distance education option of the Diploma of General Studies includes four compulsory residential schools. All of the residential schools will be held in Dubbo, NSW at the CSU and TAFE campuses.
Duration:
- First school – 3.0 days
- Second school – 2.0 days
- Third school – 2.0 days
- Fourth school - 2.0 days
