The Master of Animal Science aims to promote advanced critical reflection on professional practice in the animal industries, preparing graduates for leadership positions. The course meets the educational needs of professionals working in the ever-evolving animal industries; promotes the acquisition of advanced analytical, problem solving skills and conceptual insights that enable students to assume positions of leadership within the animal industries; and encourages excellence in scholarship and/or focused research within the candidate's discipline area. Graduates extend their knowledge of the disciplines which form the basis of their profession; develop concepts in animal production to an advanced level of understanding; and develop skills in the presentation of material to practitioners within the animal industries ranging from those involved in research through to those working with farming communities.

Admission criteria
CSU Admission PolicyMaster of Animal Science
The course is restricted to students who have completed an approved undergraduate degree or equivalent experience as determined by the Course co-ordinator. Equivalent experience is defined as direct practical experience of at least 2 years in duration relating to the field within the animal industry which the candidate wishes to specialise in.Articulation
The Master, Graduate Diploma [Exit Point Only] and Graduate Certificate [Exit Point Only] make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower.

Master of Animal Science
To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 96 points.
Graduate Diploma of Animal Science [Exit Point Only]
To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.
Graduate Certificate in Animal Science [Exit Point Only]
To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 32 points.

Accreditation
Provision for accreditation of international students for the purpose of progression within their own institutes is envisaged. These institutes may be government, non-government or privately funded. The form that accreditation may take would need to be developed with each organisation and particularly with large organisations servicing the needs of specific industries. For example postgraduate training in animal nutrition may be an in service requirement for promotion to be an Extension Officer within the dairy industry of a developing country.
