Explore a real-world view of how the Cool Soil Initiative is being implemented.
On World Soil Day the 5th December we focus and celebrate the importance of healthy soil and to advocate for the sustainable management of soil resources.
Explore our Cool Soils webinar series, featuring a diverse range of practical, grower‑focused topics designed to support soil health, improve decision‑making and strengthen on‑farm sustainability.
Our first webinar in the series helps growers and advisors interpret soil test results with more confidence and make better‑informed management decisions. Led by Cass Schefe, the session covered soil sampling strategies, soil test interpretation, acidification pathways, soil buffering capacity and lime management. Cass also explained the impacts of aluminium in low pH soils, along with nutrient extraction methods, crop removal levels and the key thresholds that influence production.
This is the second webinar in our three part webinar series, where we share practical insights from both the soil and supply chain sides of Cool Soils. In this session, Dr Cass discusses Nitrogen Management in a Risky Climate, outlining key strategies to improve nitrogen efficiency and productivity in annual cropping systems, including legume nitrogen contributions, deep soil testing, better fertiliser placement and timing, ensuring phosphorus, sulfur and soil pH are not limiting, and the use of inhibitors where nitrogen loss risk is high.
