Worldwide Veterinary Services Spey Clinic

Under the supervision of Worldwide Veterinary Services (WVS) veterinary staff at their International Training Centres,  veterinary science students will work in the WVS animal shelter and clinics in either Chiang Mai (Thailand), Ooty (India) or Goa (India).

The program will include spey clinics (dogs and cats), population control and rabies vaccination programs. Students will be trained in safe, welcoming environments that allow them to learn and develop their core skills in veterinary procedures to the highest international standard.

Participants can enjoy the culture of India and Thailand, all whilst improving skills and helping animals in need.

You should ensure you discuss your interest in participating in this Program with either Sarah Robinson (5th year students) or Melissa Strong (4th year students).

The options available are as follows:

  • Ooty (India) 4th year students:
    • 8th December - 19th December 2025 (12 places available)
  • Goa (India 4th year students):
    • 8th December - 19th December 2025 (8 places available)
    • 5th January - 16th January 2026 (8 places available)
    • 19th January - 30th January 2026 (8 places available)
  • Chiang Mai (Thailand) 5th year students:
    • 12th January - 23rd  January 2026 (14 places available)
    • 16th February - 27th February 2026 (7 places available)

Eligibility

This program is offered by the Faculty of Science and Health and the School of Agricultural, Environmental and Veterinary Sciences.

You are required to discuss your interest in participating in this Program with either Sarah Robinson (5th year students) or Melissa Strong (4th year students).

All participants will be required to have had a full course pre-exposure rabies vaccinations and tetanus cover to attend the courses in India and Thailand.

Additional details

The course fee for courses 2025 will be sterling pounds £1550.00

The course fee for courses 2026 will be sterling pounds £1600.00

Program payment will be made directly to Worldwide Veterinary Service.

Students may be eligible to apply for a  Vice-Chancellor Travel Grant of $400. Students must complete all pre-departure requirements (see pre-departure tab)  before payment can be made.

Pre-departure

All participants will be required to have had a full course pre-exposure rabies vaccinations and tetanus cover to attend the courses in India, Goa, and Thailand.

A pre-departure session will be mandatory for all students attending this program.  Pre-departure information will be made available to successful applicants approximately 5 weeks prior to departure.

Learning about so many different cultures and meeting such a different group of people is something you can’t experience in classrooms here. Everyone was there for the same reasons; a love of learning, love of travel and curiosity. These things bound us all together.
