Booranga Writers Program
Our work and impact
Writers Unblocked in the Bush is a creative writing initiative delivered through the Booranga Writers' Centre at Charles Sturt University. Established in the early 1990s, the centre supports and promotes writers in regional Australia by providing opportunities for development, collaboration and creative expression.
The initiative connects local, national and international writers with regional communities through residencies, events and publishing opportunities, strengthening literary culture across the Riverina and beyond.

Hosts visiting writers who deliver workshops, readings and mentorship to support local talent and creative development. - Publishing and storytelling
Produces the annual fourW anthology, showcasing poetry and prose from regional, national and international writers. - Community engagement through the arts
Facilitates events, book launches and readings, creating opportunities for connection between writers and the broader community. - Regional creative development
Builds networks, skills and professional pathways for writers, contributing to a thriving regional arts ecosystem.
