Organisations

The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is the key driver of health and medical research in Australia. A significant funding organisation for research, the NHMRC also advises the Australian Government and facilitates networking in the research community by bringing academics and industry together. The NHMRC is the lead publisher of many of the Codes of Practice relied on for ethical research in Australia.

The Australian Research Council (ARC) shapes the Australian research environment, evaluates the excellence, impact and depth of Australian research, provides expert advice and research grants services, supports research integrity and promotes ethical research.

The Australian Research Integrity Committee (ARIC) is jointly established by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and the Australian Research Council (ARC). Its purpose is to undertake reviews of institutional processes used to manage and investigate potential breaches of the Research Code.
