Root canal therapy

We'll perform a root canal treatment to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth. This means we'll try and save your tooth instead of extracting it.

Treatment process

To perform a root canal, we'll do the following:

  1. Give you a local anaesthetic to make sure you don't feel any pain.
  2. Isolate your tooth with a rubber dam.
  3. Find the 'dental pulp' at the centre of your tooth, then remove and disinfect it.
  4. Filled the space with a material called gutta-percha.
  5. Seal the area to stop any bacteria from getting in.
  6. Add a filling or a crown on top, depending on the tooth.
