“It’s rewarding to know the work we do can truly change lives.” With a background in creativity and a passion for helping others, Aimee brings warmth, insight, and energy to her role as a Development Officer at Charles Sturt University. Now one year into the job, she’s already made a meaningful impact - connecting donors, researchers, and students to opportunities that spark real change. Having spent ten years as a professional photographer, Aimee is no stranger to capturing emotion and meaning. That same instinct now guides her in Advancement, where each conversation with a donor or student helps piece together a bigger picture of hope, equity, and potential. Her day-to-day? No two are alike - and that’s part of the appeal. From managing donor relationships and organising events to supporting researchers and gathering student stories, every task moves the dial on making education more accessible and inclusive. The highlight of her work comes when she meets scholarship recipients and their families. “Hearing their stories at ceremonies - seeing how a single gift can ease stress, build confidence, or make uni even possible - it’s powerful,” she says. If she could launch her own scholarship, it would champion equity and diversity, supporting students who may not have had the highest ATAR or the chance to stack up extracurriculars - but who have drive, determination, and a dream. While she doesn’t drink coffee, you’ll often find her with a hot chocolate or an English breakfast tea in hand. She enjoys a slow morning with a good book - and for a pick-me-up, nothing beats a singalong to '90s pop classics in the car. Fun fact? She’s an unapologetic hobby enthusiast. “I love trying new creative projects and have a collection of tools for everything from woodworking to knitting,” she laughs. Living and working in a regional university community suits her perfectly. “The open spaces and proximity to nature help me stay grounded,” she says. If you’re visiting the campus, she recommends stopping by Charlies Café for a treat, followed by a look inside the Communication Precinct’s state-of-the-art TV studio. What motivates you? Making a difference
