Profile

Building a Brighter Future Through Giving

With over three decades at Charles Sturt University and 12 years leading Advancement, Sarah has seen firsthand the transformative power of philanthropy. Originally taking on fundraising as part of a broader portfolio in 2013, it quickly became her favourite area - a space where generosity meets opportunity and where incredible people use their wealth, knowledge, and passion to make a real difference.

No two days are ever the same. Whether it’s working with colleagues to identify philanthropic needs, connecting with donors and alumni, developing impactful programs, or increasing the visibility of the Foundation, every day is about creating opportunities that change lives.
"The most rewarding part of my work? Seeing the impact. There’s joy in witnessing a scholarship change a life in the moment, but it’s even more special to meet recipients years later and see how their education has shaped their future."

One particularly powerful moment? Watching a student - who faced immense financial, social, and medical challenges - receive the vital support she needed to continue her studies. Five years later, that same student was thriving in her Master’s degree and achieving incredible success.

If there’s one fund Sarah dreams of creating, it’s a Paid Placement Fund.
"The financial toll of placements - travel, food, accommodation, lost income - is immense. I don’t want to hear any more stories of young people sleeping in cars just to complete their studies."

Living in a regional community means genuine connections and people stepping up when needed - a culture that Sarah values deeply. When not at work, you’ll find her starting the day with a walk along the Murrumbidgee or through the countryside with her dog, Beau.
As a passionate traveller, she’d pack her bags for Zanzibar in a heartbeat, but for now, she finds joy in the little things - like an afternoon at the Charles Sturt Winery or curling up with Richard Osman’s ‘The Thursday Murder Club’.
