Charles Sturt University has been a certified carbon neutral organisation under the Climate Active program since 2015, demonstrating long-term commitment to sustainability. Leveraging its expertise, the university actively shares its climate action knowledge across sectors and with like-minded organisations.

Since 2023, Charles Sturt has played a key role in the Wagga Wagga Net Zero Community Forum, an initiative supported by Wagga Wagga City Council that brings together local businesses, government agencies, and residents. Through this forum, the university has openly shared its climate action plan, including its greenhouse gas inventory, emissions reduction targets, mitigation projects, and adaptation strategies.

This collaborative approach aims to inspire and guide other organisations, including local government and community groups, on their net zero journey. Charles Sturt’s leadership highlights the value of transparency and community engagement in accelerating regional climate resilience and emissions reduction.
