Expanding global learning through regional partnerships

Building on the success of the 2024 Social Impact Projects, Charles Sturt expanded its global engagement in 2025 by establishing the Asia Pacific Hub for Community Based Global Learning. The Hub provides a regional platform connecting community partners in regional Australia with universities including the University of Technology Sydney, Cornell University, and Vin University, as well as community organisations across the Asia–Pacific and North America.

Through this model, Charles Sturt integrates community-based global learning directly into curriculum via work-integrated learning (WIL), enabling students to contribute to real world international projects shaped by community identified priorities.

The Hub launch included a seminar series exploring sovereignty and decolonisation, Fair Trade Learning, the Interdependence Toolkit and the Global Engagement Survey. These sessions brought partners together to exchange knowledge and strengthen shared practice.

The Hub now supports ongoing collaboration between community, university and NGO partners, supporting co-designed WIL projects that deliver community-led learning and development outcomes.
