Charles Sturt strengthened its longstanding commitment to environmental sustainability by entering a three-year agreement to power its campuses entirely with renewable electricity. The initiative reflects the university’s regional mission and its leadership in responsible energy procurement.
From 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2027, Charles Sturt University’s six main campuses located across New South Wales will be supplied with 100 per cent renewable matched electricity through a contract with Snowy Energy. The agreement covers an estimated annual electricity use of 20 GWh and is matched with 100 per cent Large-scale Generation Certificates sourced from the West Wyalong Solar Farm. The agreement builds on Charles Sturt’s achievement as the first Australian university to attain carbon neutrality certification.
