Supporting ethical institutions through international dialogue

Participants at the Australasian Business Ethics Network (ABEN) annual conference.

Ethical leadership, accountability and institutional integrity are increasingly tested in an age of social, economic, and environmental disruption. In November 2025, Charles Sturt’s School of Business hosted the three-day international Australasian Business Ethics Network (ABEN) annual conference, focused on ethical and sustainable business decision-making, bringing scholars and practitioners together to examine how institutions respond to these pressures.

The conference program addressed issues central to strong institutions, including governance, professional standards, whistleblowing, corruption risks and systems level ethical responsibility.

Around 90 participants from eight countries took part, with more than 70 attending on campus. Supported by campus facilities and digital systems, the event enabled sustained international dialogue from a regional setting, contributing to shared understanding of ethical decision-making and institutional responsibility in complex global contexts.
