United Nations Regional Youth Summit comes to Bathurst

Representatives of UN Youth Australia at the recent Charles Sturt Orientation Week at Bathurst campus.

Charles Sturt partnered with the Central NSW Joint Organisations of Councils and UN Youth NSW to host the UN Regional Youth Summit on Bathurst campus. The event brought together 40 high school students from the Central West, Riverina and New England regions of NSW to share their experiences and perspectives. The Summit was part of the national Listening Tour led by Australia’s Youth Representative to the UN, Satara Uthayakumaran.

Using our regional campus for the gathering, Charles Sturt enabled young people direct access to a UN-aligned consultation rarely available to young people in regional communities. The event provided students with space to discuss the issues that matter to them and learn how their perspective feeds into national and global decision-making.

The insights shared at the summit will inform the Youth Representative’s report to the UN General Assembly. This collaboration highlights how our regional campuses are strengthening partnerships that amplify regional youth voices.
