Charles Sturt’s Children’s Voices Centre (CVC) hosted an online World Children’s Day event that enabled young people from regional Australia to directly interview United Nations leader Mr David Ohana, Chief of the UN Civil Society Unit and a Charles Sturt alumnus. The CVC led and organised the session, creating an accessible space where children stepped into the role of interviewer to explore Mr Ohana’s journey from regional beginnings to global leadership. Children and young people engaged in dialogue about how local experiences can shape participation in international decision-making and gained insights into leadership, resilience and civic contribution.
By ensuring the event was available online and free to young people across regional communities, Charles Sturt strengthened opportunities for inclusive participation beyond geographical barriers. This initiative supports the goal of fostering communities that prioritise accessibility, representation and active involvement for people of all ages.
