Course Transition Planning (CTP)

Course Transition Planning (CTP) is the structured process guiding implementation of the Models of Engagement and Assessment (MEA) initiative. Mapping out what needs to change in each course to align with its confirmed MEA model.

CTPs support faculties and course teams to plan for future course delivery alignment, implementation readiness, operational considerations, and course-level transition activities associated with the selected Model of Engagement.

The process brings together academic, operational and support perspectives to ensure course transition planning is coordinated, evidence-informed, and aligned with broader institutional priorities and governance requirements.

CTPs help faculties and course teams:

  • identify course transition requirements and dependencies
  • consider operational, pedagogical and student experience impacts
  • support implementation planning and sequencing
  • identify support needs and escalation points
  • align planning activities with governance and operational processes

The process is designed to support a coordinated and sustainable approach to transition planning across the University.

The 5-stage CTP process

Stage 1

CTP generation (W/C 20 April  |  1 week)

The MEA team generates baseline CTP records across all courses.

Stage 2

CTP drafting and Educational Designer review (W/C 27 April  |  4 weeks)

Initial Course Transition Plans are developed and reviewed with support from Educational Designers and MEA implementation supports.

Stage 3

Faculty refinement and completion (W/C 25 May  | 3 weeks)

Faculties refine and complete Course Transition Plans through local consultation and review processes involving faculty leadership teams.

Stage 4

Review and MEA governance endorsement (W/C 15 June  | 3 weeks)

Completed Course Transition Plans progress through faculty review and MEA governance endorsement processes to support implementation readiness and future planning activities.

Stage 5

Transition planning and implementation readiness (Post-July)

Following endorsement processes, implementation planning activities continue to support future course transitions, operational readiness, and ongoing implementation support.

Who is involved?

The CTP process brings together a range of roles across DLT and faculties:

RoleContribution
Educational Designers (EDs)Provide pedagogical review, feedback and implementation guidance
Strategic Project Officers (SPOs)Coordinate planning activity, support progress tracking and escalation processes
Course DirectorsContribute course-level planning and transition considerations
Heads of School (HOS)Support school-level engagement and oversight
Executive Deans and Associate Dean Academics (ADAs)Lead faculty review and endorsement processes
MEA teamProvide implementation guidance, coordination and support

What comes next?

Once CTPs are endorsed and approved through MEA governance processes, the focus shifts to Stage 5 and beyond – implementation planning for 2027 course delivery. This will include detailed course requirements, subject-level planning, Heads of School engagement and academic workload commitments.
