Enhancing Student Success

Effective Feedback Strategies

Feedback plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic journey of students, and as teachers, our ability to provide effective feedback directly impacts their growth and success.

In this session, we will explore some practical techniques or strategies to deliver feedback that fosters student learning, engagement, and achievement. From providing constructive criticism to offering encouragement and support, we'll explore strategies to create a nurturing feedback environment conducive to academic excellence. Whether you are a course designer, instructor or learning facilitator, mastering effective feedback techniques is essential for promoting student development and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement within the university community.

Below are some of the principles with relevant strategies/examples that I will be covering in the presentation:

  • Help clarify what good performance is
  • Deliver high quality information to students about their learning
  • Provide information to teacher that can help shape better teaching
  • Encourage positive motivation and self-esteem
  • Provide opportunity for students to close the gap between current and desired level of performance
