Innovative Assessment 3: Assessment and Universal Design

Designing assessments with a UDL approach involves identifying and eliminating unintended or irrelevant barriers to the assessment of students' knowledge and skills. With a flexible approach to assessment design, and guided by the principles of UDL (https://udlguidelines.cast.org/), we can not only get a more accurate understanding of what our students know, but provide them with the best opportunity to demonstrate what they know and what they can do.

This presentation will present an overview of the UDL principles and how they inform an accessible and inclusive approach to assessment for all your students, and then we will go through some tips and ideas for assessment using the UDL approach.
