Innovative Assessment 5: Supporting Assessment Design and Implementation Through CDAP

Innovative assessment for excellence has been the focus of this series of presentations addressing; assessment for, as and through learning; strategies for closing the feedback loop; assessment and Universal Design for Learning; and constructive alignment. In this presentation Donna will draw on these previous discussions, challenging ideas of assessment innovation in relation to understanding and applying principles of effective assessment. Ideas of excellence will also be explored through a focus on effective and authentic assessment design and its implementation in a changing curriculum environment. Speaking to the implementation of the CDAP curriculum management system, Donna will present a two-level design process that enables assessment to be designed for oversight and accreditation, while value adding, enabling flexibility, ensuring academic integrity and security and adaptation to changing student needs.  This approach acknowledges constraints as positive affordances that create structure and guidance for assessment to facilitate engaging and future focused opportunities for students to demonstrate what they know, understand and are able to do.
