Programmatic Assessment

This all-staff student assessment transformation session will provide staff with a greater understanding of the changes occurring in teaching and learning due to generative AI, noting that AI is the catalyst rather than the driver in assessment change. In this session, we will cover the reason that our approach to assessment needs to change, the way students are using genAI in their studies, how staff are using genAI and how leaders in the sector are transforming their assessment practices, with short presentations from ECU Professor Katrina Strampel, Director Centre for Learning and Teaching and Professor Gary Velan, UNSW, Senior Vice Dean (Education), UNSW Medicine and Health. Finally, we will outline the institution wide approach to student assessment that we will take at Charles Sturt, commencing with a pilot in 2025.
