Alumni Veterinary Student Fund

Back students. Build the profession. Pay it forward.

Since launching in 2020, the Alumni Student Vet Fund has supported more than 150 final-year students with bursaries to help ease the financial strain of placements. It’s not a big payment—but it makes a real difference when students are juggling long hours, travel costs, and little time for paid work. And now, thanks to alumni like you, we're building something even bigger.

The goal: $88,000
If we reach this milestone, the Charles Sturt Foundation Trust will match it—doubling the fund to $177,000 and allowing every final-year student to receive around $212* each year, ongoing.
This isn’t just about one cohort. It’s about building a permanent source of support for the next generation of vets.

Why it matters

  • Final year is the most financially demanding part of the degree.
  • A small bursary means fewer financial barriers to completing placements.
  • Alumni who once received support are now giving back—closing the circle.

Where we are now in April 2025

  • $66,850 raised
  • 150+ students supported since 2020
  • Just $21,150 to go to unlock the match

Your support makes it possible
Whether you received a bursary yourself or simply remember how tough it was and you believe in backing future vets—you’re part of a growing community of alumni who care.

Let’s finish what we started. Let’s build something that lasts.

Dr Alistair Grant

"This isn’t just a short-term goal – this is about building a permanent source of support for students who are stepping into the future of veterinary care.
We’re asking our alumni to help us make that lasting impact."
