Enrolment Patterns
TECHNOLOGY AND APPLIED STUDIES – first teaching area
Includes the following first teaching areas: Design & Technology and one of: Industrial Technology or Food Technology or Textiles Technology or Agricultural Technology or Information Technology.
Cross-Institutional Studies with Southern Cross University
Arrangements have been organised with Southern Cross University (SCU) to provide specified discipline subjects. Students will enrol in these subjects as cross-institutional enrolments and the workshop components will be delivered on the CSU Wagga campus as Residential School blocks of study. On completion, these subjects will be shown as credit on the student's transcript.
This credit will be represented on student transcripts via the following credit package codes:
One core compulsory subject (all TAS students):
* EMT11C Design & Technologies - 8 credit points - this covers completion of one SCU subject, namely: DES106 34 Design & Technology: Essential Technologies
Industrial Technology students only:
** EPI15C Timber Production - 16 credit points - this covers completion of two SCU subjects, namely: DES106 51 Timber Design and Production and DES106 53 Timber Industry Practice and Management (for students entering with a Metal Trade background);
or
*** EPI16C Metal Production - 16 credit points - this covers completion of two SCU subjects, namely: DES106 52 Metal Design and Production and DES106 54 Metal Industry Practice and Management (for students entering with a Timber/Construction Trade background);
or
**** EPI14C Timber/Metal Production - 32 credit points - this covers completion of four SCU subjects, namely: DES106 51 Timber Design and Production; DES106 53 Timber Industry Practice and Management; DES106 52 Metal Design and Production; and DES106 54 Metal Industry Practice and Management (for students entering with an Automotive/Mechanic; Electrician/Electronics; Plumbing Trade background).
Please note:
1. Where a credit code (e.g. EMT11C Design & Technologies and/or Restricted Elective Discipline subjects that requires EPI15C Timber Production or EPI16C Metal Production or EPI14C Timber/Metal Production subject enrolment), is noted in the enrolment pattern or required as a restricted elective discipline subject, this indicates that the student will enrol in a subject through cross-institutional enrolment with Southern Cross University (SCU). The subject selected will be as specified in the arrangements for that credit package, and as approved by the Course Director. Credit will be ungraded and represented as Transfer Credit (TCR).
2. Students who enter the Industrial Technology strand with an industry background in Electrical/Electronics or Automotive or Plumbing Trades will complete a total of eight discipline subjects including four Industrial Technology restricted elective discipline subjects. These additional subjects will be two more restricted elective discipline subjects than noted in the enrolment patterns below - students should seek advice from the Course Administrative Officer to adjust their enrolment. The four required subjects will be those covered by the EPI14C Timber/Metal Production credit package.

Science Studies
Subjects are focussed on enhancing and extending the students' existing Science skills and broadening discipline knowledge. Students must complete six Restricted Elective Discipline subjects.
By completion of study students must have completed a six subject sequence of study. Two subjects must be at level1, two at level 2, and two at level 3, in at least one of the following science teaching areas:
- Biology: a total of 4 Biology subjects and two subjects in one of:- Chemistry or Physics subjects.
- Chemistry: a total of 4 Chemistry subjects and two subjects in one of: – Biology, or Physics; or Earth & Environmental Science subjects.
- Physics: a total of 4 Physics subjects and two subjects in one of: – Biology, or Chemistry; or Earth & Environmental Science subjects.
These subjects must include two appropriate subjects at Level 1; three at level 2 and two at level 3 or above. A student may only include other discipline subject/s as their restricted elective discipline subjects if the Course Director determines they have sufficient content to meet the accreditation criteria for Biology or Chemistry or Physics as a first designated teaching area.
With approval from the Course Director the student can select six subjects from:
