This CPD activity is designed to enhance participants’ knowledge, skills, and clinical judgement in the application of Vital Pulp Therapy (VPT) within their scope of practice.

The course focuses on evidence-based, minimally invasive approaches to preserving pulp vitality and supporting long-term tooth survival.

Dr Julia E. Iglesias is a full-time Senior Lecturer in Endodontics and Academic Lead in Endodontics at Charles Sturt University.

Julia received her BDS degree in 2013 and a Clinical Postgraduation in Endodontics in 2015 from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). She earned her MSc in 2016 and PhD in 2022, both in Clinical Dentistry with an emphasis in Endodontics from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil).

Course summary

This course provides a comprehensive evidence-based overview of VPT as a contemporary approach to pulp preservation in both immature and mature permanent teeth. Participants will explore the biological principles underpinning VPT, indications, and clinical strategies to manage deep carious lesions while also managing pulp vitality.

Through a combination of lectures and hands-on practical sessions, participants will develop clinical judgement in case selection, technique selection, and material use, enabling safe and effective application of VPT in everyday clinical settings.
