Review of mark

If you believe your assessment was unfairly marked, you can apply for a re-mark (officially called a Review of Mark). Here’s exactly what to do — step by step.

First steps

  1. Talk to or email your Subject Coordinator
    • Ask for feedback and clarification on your mark.
    • This is a chance to better understand how your work was assessed and why you received the mark you have.
  2. Need to take it further?
    • If you believe your mark is unfair based on the marking criteria, or if your Subject Coordinator is unavailable, you can request a Review of Mark.

Time limit

You must apply within 7 days of receiving your assessment results.

What you need to do

Complete and submit the Review of Mark form, making sure you include:

  1. A marked copy of your submitted assessment
  2. An unmarked copy of your original submitted assessment
  3. In the comments section, you should specifically set out the grounds why you believe you've been unfairly marked against the marking criteria for the assessment.

You can check your request status anytime in the Student Portal.

Key considerations

  • Fees
    • There is no fee if you're requesting a review of a fail grade
    • A fee applies if you're reviewing a passing mark (refunded if the review changes your mark)
  • Late-returned assessments
    • If your in-session assessment was returned too late for a review and now your final grade for that subject has been released, you need to apply for a  Review of Grade instead.

What happens next?

  • You’ll receive the outcome in an email from the Head of School. The outcome of the review may result in the final mark being the same as, higher, or lower than the original mark.
  • You can track the status of your request in the Student Portal
  • Once your grade has been reviewed, you can’t request another review for that same assessment
