Week 5

At this stage in the teaching period, it’s important to keep communicating with and supporting students.

Task 1

Maintain teacher presence

The presence of an engaged, knowledgeable teacher can help students feel more confident with learning activities and assessment. You can maintain teacher presence by:

  • making announcements or sharing weekly topic videos, providing information about topic expectations, task feedback and how much time students should be spending on tasks
  • answering forum questions and monitoring discussion
  • providing feedback on tasks and answering queries
  • using site analytics to see how students are using key learning content in your Interact2 subject site.

Task 3

Support students ahead of remaining assessments

To help students feel prepared for the remaining assessment items, you can:

  • encourage students to complete any tasks related to assessment
  • send announcements reminding students each week an assessment is due
  • explain learning outcomes requirements for each assessment item well in advance of the due date
  • organise assessment support e.g. video or online meeting to discuss rubric marking criteria and assessment queries.
  • consider providing exemplars that reinforce expectations
  • encourage them to submit their draft for assessment feedback on the ways to improve the writing
  • support students with use of Student Turnitin if required.
