Brenden Moore, a Biripi man, is the First Nations Community Greening Officer at the Botanic Gardens of Sydney, supporting community gardens and schools across New South Wales.
With a Bachelor of Community and Social Development and a Diploma in Aboriginal Studies, Brenden brings a deep understanding of culture, connection, and wellbeing to his work. He engages diverse communities – including the Central Coast, Newcastle, Redfern, and various Aboriginal Medical Services, language groups, and Land Councils – through gardening, art, music, and storytelling.
He is passionate about creating spaces where people can connect, share knowledge, and experience the healing benefits of working with nature. His work also extends to youth at risk, Juvenile Justice Centres, and Correctional Centres, where he uses plants and culture to build resilience, respect, and leadership.
Brenden has presented at major events including the Australian Institute of Horticulture and the Urban Ag Forum, as well as internationally in New Zealand. Inspired by the transformative power of gardening, he continues to strengthen community ties and promote cultural understanding through hands‑on environmental and creative engagement.
