These schools can be online or on-campus. They offer face-to-face or virtual lectures, tutorials and practicals to give you a deeper understanding of your subject content to help develop essential professional skills. You'll also get to know your academic staff and peers and make use of a range of facilities.

2025 Intensive School Survey Results

Your voice, our action. Based on what you shared in the Intensive School Survey in September 2025, we've been working on ways to help improve your intensive school experience at Charles Sturt.

Overall, the survey found that students are generally satisfied with current intensive school offerings, with feedback focused on refinement rather than major changes.

Your valued feedback:

  • Students value face-to-face intensives for building practical skills and connecting with their peers. At the same time, they suggest moving more theory-based content online where it can be accessed more flexibly.
  • Because travel can be expensive and sometimes complicated, students would love to see their on-campus time focused as much as possible on hands-on, practical learning.
  • Sharing intensive dates early, along with clear and consistent communication, makes a big difference in helping students plan ahead and reduces stress.
  • Enhancing campus life and navigation - students greatly appreciate good food options, comfortable break spaces, and easy campus navigation. Students told us they’d like support with costs, such as grants, affordable accommodation, transport options, and discounted meals.

What we’ll focus on:

  • Maintaining and optimising face to face time by allowing more in-person sessions to focus on practical skills, assessments and peer/lecturer interaction.
  • Promoting cost saving options for students such as affordable accommodation options, self-catering facilities, grants and scholarships.
  • Providing clear and consistent early communication about intensive school dates and locations.
  • Enhancing communications and sharing information about maps, food and parking options, break spaces and social/networking opportunities before students arrive.
