Roles and permissions in Brightspace

The following roles are currently available in Brightspace.

These roles and permissions are designed to improve the workflow of academic and professional staff, from setting up sites in Brightspace to teaching and engaging with students.

To be added to a master or subject site, please contact your faculty subjects team:

Note: The 'Inactive Student' role is determined by the student's grade in Banner. If a student's grade in Banner is 'AW' or 'LW', their role in Brightspace will change from 'Student' to 'Inactive Student'. As an 'Inactive Student', they will not be able to access the subject content but will still appear in the class list.
