Family support

Charles Sturt strives to create a fair and inclusive workplace. We offer flexible work practices and a range of leave options that support a healthy work/life balance.

We're committed to providing a flexible, supportive and accessible work and study environment for staff and students with family or caring responsibilities. Please refer to the Balancing Work and Study with Family and Caring Responsibilities Policy for further information.

Parental leave

Parental leave provides paid time off associated with the birth or adoption of a child.

Support for pregnancy

We can support you to make sure your health, safety and wellbeing needs are met in the workplace.

Support for adoption

You can access leave if you are adopting or permanently fostering a child.

Government Paid Parental Leave

Government Paid Parental Leave (GPPL) is a short-term government payment for when you're on parental leave. After a notification from the Department of Human Services, we'll provide the GPPL payment as part of your usual pay cycle. The payment is taxable and is in addition to any other salary or leave payments made by CSU.

Returning to work

We can support your return to work after your parental leave ends.

Support for breastfeeding

We provide facilities and support for breastfeeding mothers.

Children on campus

We can help you balance your parental and caring responsibilities with your work commitments.
