Professor Ashad Kabir is an expert in applied artificial intelligence, data science and smartphone technologies. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. His academic career includes appointments at several esteemed institutions, including Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Deakin University (Australia), and Swinburne University of Technology (Australia). Since 2020, he has been involved in securing over $7.1 million in competitive research funding from various organisations, including the National Industry PhD Program, Soil CRC, Food Agility CRC, Meat & Livestock Australia, and Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry in Australia. He has successfully led and contributed to numerous industry-funded research initiatives, forming strategic partnerships that have yielded high-impact outcomes, engagements and peer-reviewed publications of international significance. His contributions have been recognised with the Vice-Chancellor's Research Excellence Award 2023 in the category of Research Excellence through Partnership. He has authored over 130 scholarly articles, including publications in high-impact journals, such as Computers and Electronics in Agriculture and Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture. His research has achieved substantial international impact, as evidenced by citations in media, patents and government policy documents across countries such as Australia, Canada, and Spain, and has been awarded Editor’s Choice Article for the Year 2022 and Top Downloaded Article in 2022. His scholarly excellence has been further recognised by the Vice-Chancellor’s Research Excellence Award 2022 – Researcher of the Year (Faculty Level), and the Faculty Research Excellence Award in 2021, acknowledging his leadership, innovation, and research impact. Professor Kabir has successfully supervised over 15 PhD and Honours theses to completion. As principal supervisor, he oversaw an HDR research project that improved efficiency and competitiveness in business operations worldwide. This pioneering research was awarded a commendation for the prestigious Vice-Chancellor’s Research Excellence Award 2024 – HDR Thesis of the Year. He has delivered keynote at international conferences and has been invited to give talks at leading universities worldwide, including the University of Maryland (USA), Texas A&M University (USA), the University of Toronto (Canada), York University (Canada), Auckland University of Technology (New Zealand), the University of the South Pacific (Fiji), King Abdulaziz University (Saudi Arabia), and Chandigarh University (India).
