THRIIVE is leading research in epidemiology and disease modeling, focusing on enhancing surveillance and preparedness in regional Australia. We aim to develop innovative tools to model the introduction and transmission of diseases in human communities, wildlife, and livestock. Through this work, we strengthen biosecurity planning and response strategies, essential for protecting the health of Australian rural industries and communities against emerging infectious threats.
Our research also explores the impact of environmental stress events—such as drought, bushfires, and climate change—on viral epidemiology. By examining how these factors influence the prevalence of significant viruses, including flaviviruses, African Swine Fever, and avian influenza, THRIIVE aims to future-proof Australian agricultural sectors and enhance the resilience of rural communities facing the challenges of viral diseases in a changing environment.
