THRIIVE is advancing molecular virology by developing novel cell lines from livestock and wildlife reservoirs of zoonotic and emerging viruses, including bats, native rodents, and avian species. By creating specialised culture conditions, such as liver organoids, we facilitate the study of hepatitis viruses and their interactions with host cells, paving the way for deeper insights into viral behavior.
Our research employs CRISPR technology to map immune responses in various host cells, aiming to identify viral factors that influence infection and virulence. We also focus on isolating neglected zoonotic viral pathogens through sequencing and metagenomics while developing essential resources such as recombinant proteins and antibodies. This comprehensive approach enhances our understanding of viral pathogenesis and immune evasion, contributing to future vaccine development
