THRIIVE is leading research in translational virology with a focus on developing innovative solutions to combat viral threats in wildlife and agriculture. Our vaccine platform utilises recombinant circovirus capsid proteins for mRNA delivery and immune presentation, targeting the beak and feather disease virus affecting endangered orange-bellied parrots. We are also creating rapid diagnostics through recombinant protein expression systems, allowing us to generate viral antigens and antibodies for effective disease detection.
Additionally, THRIIVE is screening antiviral compounds using advanced tissue culture systems to identify small molecule inhibitors, while establishing commercial pathways in collaboration with biopharmaceutical partners.
Our work includes discovering novel viruses impacting agricultural pests to develop biocontrol products. We also aim to inform policy changes, such as enhancing wildlife corridors, to reduce the risk of viral spill-over during drought conditions, thereby supporting both health and agricultural sustainability.
