Biosecurity in practice

The research team led by Professor Hernandez-Jover and Dr Manyweathers has advanced knowledge on biosecurity, traceability and disease surveillance among livestock producers in Australia, investigating implementation of and drivers for engagement with biosecurity, traceability and animal health management practices.

The team’s research has enhanced epidemiological and social science understanding of the biosecurity systems, and informed innovative approaches to improving stakeholders’ engagement with biosecurity and implementation of shared responsibility, with practical on the ground application.

The team works collaboratively with industry and government stakeholders and other research institutions conducting transdisciplinary research addressing national and international biosecurity and animal health priorities that directly impact livestock industries and communities.
