Charles Sturt University Council is the governing body of the University; its responsibilities are set out within the Charles Sturt University Act and By-law and include oversight of the management, performance and activities of the University. The University Council is pleased to announce the following results in the 2020 Election.
Mr Benjamin Fry is declared elected as the student member of the Council, for a two-year term commencing 1 July 2020. Congratulations to Benjamin on his election to the Council.
Benjamin is the current student member of the Council, having been appointed to the membership in February 2020 to fill a casual vacancy arising on the Council.
Academic Staff Member
Dr Ruth Townsend is declared elected as the Academic staff member of the Council for a two-year term commencing 1 July 2020. Congratulations to Ruth on her election to the Council.
A/Professor Shokoofeh Shamsi will retire from her position as elected Academic staff member on the Council on 30 June 2020. The University and the Council would like to thank Shokoofeh for her contributions during the past two years.
General Staff Member
At the close of nominations on 3 June 2020, one eligible nomination for election to the General staff member position was received by the Returning Officer. Ms Julie Cleary is declared re-elected as the General staff member of the Council for a two year term commencing on 1 July 2020. Congratulations Julie.
Julie is the current general staff member on the Council having been elected in June 2018.
The Returning Officer for the elections is Cassandra Webeck, University Secretary.
